winds way too high for an end of year flight today

unfortunately, the winds are way too high for an end of year flight today:

KJYO 311340Z AUTO 29021G29KT 10SM SCT065 SCT080 08/M07 A2958 RMK AO2

as a backup, a couple of us might head 0ut to to gravelly point by DCA to watch a few:

you can't get much closer than that.

we made it out to gravelly point (off national airport) for a while. the winds were gusting to 53 kts at one point and we saw at least 4 go arounds due to wind shear alerts. 2 of them were from the same plane (that must have sucked) who said "see ya" as they left the second time and didn't return. we don't know where they diverted to. most of the landings were on runway 33 but every now and then someone would make it in on 1. that's a good place to watch and listen to air operations.

I remember that day. My instructor and I spent an hour just reading through the different weather artifacts. For KHEF, the day was pretty quite except for the wind howling around the hanger. Flew the next day.
